Downham Market Twinning Club
Tree Planting
Twinning Tree
A visit to celebrate the 45th Anniversary to Downham Market in May 2016, The Civray Twinning Club presented a gift to Downham Market Twinning Club a Liriodendron Tulipifer Tree.
It thrived well for many years but sadly various factors, including summers of drought have seen the demise of the tree.
The Downham Market Twinning Club decided to replace the tree with like for like. A tree was sourced by member, Helen Cross which the Club purchased. Helen purchased and donated the tree guard.
On Wednesday 14th January 2026 a small group of members gathered at the Community Orchard for the planting of the tree.
With thanks to the ground staff at the Memorial Playing Fields who were excellent in their work with removing the old tree, preparing a new hole and planting the new tree. They erected the tree guard around the tree.
