Sunday 13th August
Croquet at Stow Hall.
The weather held for an enjoyable afternoon playing croquet under the direction of Jonathan Toye of Downham Croquet Club. Thirty Members and friends came. Twenty played whilst others were happy to sit and watch in the relaxing grounds.
We were divided into teams of three or two. Jonathan explained the format of the game. It was fun and frustrating at times when hitting the ball watching it either travel too far or not far enough. In some cases, tactics were used and a point won by the opposition.
After we moved back to the clubhouse area for afternoon tea. Thank you to all who prepared the sandwiches and the scones and helped with the laying out the food.
A lovely way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon.
